Using WordPress to Create a Blog

Even if you have no prior experience with blogging, creating a blog with WordPress does not have to be difficult. You’ll be blogging in no time if you follow a few simple steps.

Fantastico is the easiest and quickest way to instal WordPress software.

Most hosting companies include Fantastico software, which makes it simple to instal apps like WordPress on your site. Contact your hosting company’s customer service if you’re not sure if Fantastico is supported (most do).

When you log into your hosting account, look for the Fantastico symbol and click it. You’ll be directed to a page with a variety of alternatives. WordPress can be found on the left side. When you click the link, you’ll be sent to a page with a few options.

Using WordPress

Filling out these forms is simple.

Choose the suitable domain name for your WordPress installation. Installing in a directory isn’t a problem. If you leave this field blank, the blog will appear on your site’s home page. If you insert the word blog there instead of yourdomain.com, it will instal on yourdomain.com/blog.
Enter your administrator’s handle. This will be your display name; if you don’t like it, you can change it later. You can use your first name, last name, or initials.

Fill in the admin email address.
This should be a valid email address with which you may communicate. To avoid mistakes, double-check everything.

After that, pick a name for your website. Later on, in the administration settings, you can modify the name of your site.

Put your website’s description here. This is your motto or tagline. After that, click the ‘instal WordPress’ button. You’ll be taken to a page where you may review your options. If they’re correct, click the ‘finish’ button. If not, return to the previous page and correct any problems.

Make a name for the administrator. Don’t use a word like ‘admin.’ It makes your website an easy target for cybercriminals. Select a password. Keep a safe area where you may write down your administrator name and password.

WordPress to Create a Blog

After you instal WordPress, it may take anything from a few seconds to several hours, depending on your site and system, before the site is ready for you to customise. When your WordPress website is finished, go to www.yoursite.com/wp-login.php to log in.

Put in the administrator’s username and password that you set up before.

Look for a box labelled “Settings” on the left side. There are other parameters you may change in that box, including your site name, slogan, local time, email address, and more.

If you have any questions regarding these settings, contact customer service or read the WordPress Codex, which includes a WordPress for Beginners section that answers the most frequently asked questions from new users.
